Interviewer: “Has experimenting with heroin made you feel more mortal?”
Kurt Cobain: “That’s a weird question. I don’t know. I’ve never thought of that. I’m still not any more easily amused. I don’t know. There are certain privileges that I can use, and I’m grateful for that.”
Interviewer: “Money or not, at the end of the day, do you still feel you can live forever?” A long pause. “Do you want a different question?
Kurt Cobain: “No. No, I like this question. But I don’t know the answer.”
“Well, you do learn things and & one of them is that happiness has nothing to do with validation from other people. The important thing is being happy with yourself… finding something that is important to you & sticking with it no matter what anyone says. The truth is you’ve got to really be tough because there are all kinds of forces that are always trying to get you to do things their way… trying to tell you that you are throwing your life away if you don’t follow their advice.” -Kurt Cobain
“I have become a lot more optimistic. Once something like marriage and a baby happens to a person, you find a lot of strength that you didn’t know you had.” -Kurt Cobain, July 1993
“Wearing a dress shows I can be as feminine as I want. I’m a heterosexual… big deal. But if I was a homosexual, it wouldn’t matter either.” -Kurt Cobain
